We are actively recruiting for an experienced Commercial Lines Account Executive to join the InterWest team. The Account Executive will have overall responsibility for new sales, service, renewal and development of a specified book of accounts with the same responsibilities of a Broker, visiting and interfacing with the client to build client relationships. While more than half of their time will be away from the office selling our services their responsibilities include reviewing and analyzing coverages for excellent coverage consultation, identifying opportunities for account rounding, cross selling and up-selling for account development. The Account Executive works collaborative with other Brokers and internal services as a team to provide excellent client service and client retention.

This position can be based in our Chico, Merced, Nevada City, Petaluma, Redding, Roseville, Sacramento, Santa Rosa, Truckee, or Woodland offices.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The essentials and responsibilities for the position include the items listed below. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

New Business Sales, Renewals and Client Service and Retention

  • Initiates business development through new account acquisition and/or current account enhancement
  • Cross sells all accounts into other InterWest Departments
  • Works for Red Hot Introductions
  • Manages or directs account marketing, generally utilizing established markets but may research market trends and develop strategies in coordination with Broker, Account Management and Corporate Services
  • Develops and maintains consistent and continuous consultative communication directly with assigned clients, brokers, support staff, carriers and other outside relationships
  • Manages or directs the development of thorough submissions
  • Negotiates with insurance carriers in matters of coverages and rates to obtain most comprehensive coverage and competitive pricing
  • Assesses and acts upon opportunities to develop additional revenue by cross selling additional coverages or referrals
  • Works as production team member in tandem with Account Management to successfully support the client by establishing best practices for timely communication, game plans for new business prospects, and strategies for renewing policies well in advance of deadlines
  • Conducts receivables/collections activities as needed
  • Maintains and updates knowledge of Industry trends, marketplace, and appetites of carriers; shares information with others as needed. Assists Broker and or departments on sales/calls/opportunities to present coverage or departmental presentations
  • Attends CRISP, Sales Exchange (bi-annual) and Sales & Marketing meetings
  • Mentors when asked
  • Uses Company systems and procedures for client file maintenance, invoicing, claims, renewal processing and new account submissions
  • Understands and keeps informed of what InterWest has to offer clients and promotes InterWest’s Value Added Services. Works in close coordination with company personnel in Claims, Risk Management, and outside resources.
  • Oversee, analyze and evaluate clients’ risks; review coverages to ensure quality risk placement. Recommends needed changes in coverage when required due to changes in exposure, marketplace and general improvement of program.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Licensing: Minimum five years to ten years commercial experience as a Broker, Account Executive or Account Manager with demonstrated success in this or a similar role. Proficiency with Microsoft office products Outlook, Excel, Word. Knowledge and experience with automated agency management systems, preferably the Applied Epic system.

Special Requirements: Must have valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle or appropriate and authorized mode of transportation and be able to comply with InterWest Insurance Services Personal Auto Usage Policy. Active Fire and Casualty Broker-Agent License.

Starting compensation for this specific role (all salary decisions are based on experience, skills, education, training, certifications and licenses, book of business assigned, and geographical location):

$85,000 - $130,000 + New Business bonus potential
